DraftKings was launched in May of 2012 by former executives of VistaPrint. Members can create teams in Pro Basketball, College Basketball, Pro Football, and College Football. Entry fees range from free games all the way up to $530 per contest. The site has quickly gained attention due to offering a wide variety of games, good promotions, and unique offers such as the Steps Tourney and The Chase, an exclusive Weekly Fantasy Football Tournament with over $1,000,000 in cash prizes and a trip to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.
There are five sports available to members at this time; Pro Football, College Football, Pro Basketball, College Basketball, and Hockey.
The contest lobbies are laid out well and easy to use. There's no need to go digging for specific info on a particular game, it's all easily understood. The DraftKings homepage will list all the games, with search modifiers on the left, while displaying the number of current and total possible entries, the entry fee, the prize pool, and when the contest goes live. Clicking the name of the game will bring up the list of current entrants, a breakdown of the prize payouts, and a link for the scoring rules on that particular game. After that, click the draft team button and from there it's straightforward for even the most amateur of fantasy team drafters.
In September of 2012 DraftKings went live with a mobile version of their website. Members can make depoits, enter events, change a lineup, look at current/past competitions, and view account information using a mobile device.
DraftKings is known for having a responsive support team, and while this is currently handled through a form on their website, a phone option will be coming soon. |
