StarStreet has several great features, but the one that really makes the site stand apart is the development of their sports stock market. The site went live in 2010 and allows members invest in shares for professional athletes, buying and selling as the price goes up and down depending on the player's performance.
Four sports have leagues at StarStreet; Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball. The market isn't available for each of these, but this may change in the future. Simply go to My Games in the top left of the member dashboard after logging in and choose the type of game you want to participate in, then pick the sport.
The daily games are the ones most online fantasy players will be familiar with, and the lobbies are pretty intuitive here. One of the nicer features is that you pick your team on the left and in the middle of the browser window and then the same team can be submitted to several contests on the right hand side. There are several buttons for narrowing down the list which makes picking a team easier.
The Market - Each player listed in the market has 200 shares of stock available. Players have their value set by comparing their performance to the performance of all the other players. At the end of the season every dollar that's been invested in the market is paid out to investors, and if your player had 2% of the value of the whole market, 2% of all the money invested will go to StarStreet members who owned stock in that player. StarStreet's website has extensive FAQs and video tutorials that do a good job of explaining how everything works.
Pick Five - Another unique feature at StarStreet are the pick five games. A predetermined list of five sets of players are listed in this section, and it's up to you to pick which player you think will earn more fantasy points in each of the games. Members have the choice to bet on getting all five correct, which means you win 20 times your entry fee, or to go for getting at least three correct, which means winning almost double your entry fee (the site collects a small commission here). |
